[comp.sys.mac] curses for Lightspeed C?

chow@batcomputer.tn.cornell.edu (Christopher Chow) (01/16/88)

Has anyone converted curses for use under Lightspeed C? I'd like to
compile a version of moria the Mac.

I'd be interested in this, too. I've been working on a moria port
in my spare time for a while and decided it would look nicer and
possibly be easier to write if I forgot about writing curses and
instead rewrote misc?.c and io.c in a more Mac User Interface manner.
The big problem I'm facing is the huge amount of external data (the
treasure and monster tables) and how to reasonably cope with them.
I wish ResEdit had a TMPL field for fixed-length 'C' char[]'s...

Mike Kahl from THINK has, he used it for porting Hack to the Mac. However, his
curses stuff isn't available, according to THINK.

Sorry - that is not true. Michael Kahl did not use curses to port hack.
He faked a termcap interface. The original code is proprietary to THINK.
I have made a bunch of enhancements as well. It requires a modified
stdio library which may be why THINK is not releasing it.

There is a curses which is under evaluation by THINK I think :-).
I do not know of the status of the evaluation.

I have NO connection with THINK Technologies except as a satisfied user
of Lightspeed C and Lightspeed Pascal.

This is NOT an official Apple statement.
