[comp.sys.mac] ethernet, pseudocolor pictures

larryl@nvuxr.UUCP (L Lang) (01/29/88)

Hi!

A MacII recently arrived on my desk, and we've been getting
along fine. I have a few questions, or more accurately,
requests for information:

1. I am interested in having my Mac converse with a Sun.
What is the best way to get a MacII to speak ethernet?
Is it preferable to use an ethernet expansion board,
or to use a device which connects
the AppleTalk network to an ethernet network?

2. How does one write an 8-bit pseudocolor picture file
to the screen? What format should the file be in?
Are there any programs available to show such files?

I would appreciate references to past postings, published
books and magazine articles, knowledgable people, etc.

As always, please e-mail any replies to me,
and I will summarize and post.

Thank you,
Larry Lang
