Does anyone know if Microsoft's Flight Simulator can be run with System/Finder 4.1/5.5? I have heard that it will only run with a much older System, and that this can wreak havoc with your Desktop when run on a Mac SE HD20.... Is anyone out there running the Flight Simulator on a SE HD20? Are there any problems? Please respond via e-mail. Thanks! -Ted ---------------------------------- Ted C. SUMMARY: MicroSoft Flight Simulator on a SE HD20 I have got a half dozen or so responses to this article, and the consensus is that it *is* dangerous to your hard disk if you run Flight Simulator on a Mac SE HD20. Unfortunately, I received these letters *after* I tried it myself. The program ran fine (I never really looked at it closely before: what an ugly Toolbox kludge! MicroSoft apparently *made up* their own menus and dialog boxes, avoiding the ROM routines altogether. Ugh!) Anyway, my hard disk *appeared* to be fine, but the next time I tried to "Disk Express" it, I got a message saying "This disk is damaged" and a GRIM REAPER (you know, a skeleton with a black cload and a scythe) icon appeared!!! 8-O <--(my look of horror!) Fortunately, Apple's "Disk First Aid" program successfully repaired the disk! Yea! I guess I'll just have to wait for the non-buggy version of Falcon, which I'm sure will be released Real Soon Now. :-) -Ted ------------------------------------- Ted Johnson Hewlett-Packard Design Technology Center (408)553-3555 UUCP: ...hplabs!hpdtc!tedj
