I'm using a Practical Peripherals PM2400SA modem. It seems to work fine for
most purposes. The biggest problem is that it doesn't have CCITT at 300 baud,
but that's not much of a problem in the United States. (Many Japanese BBS's
operate with CCITT at 300 baud). Another problem is that it only supports
no parity with 8 bps. However, for all practical purposes, it is very unlikely
that one is going to have to access a BBS over here using 300 bps CCITT or
access a mainframe using mode 8K1, so I consider it a very good deal. I've
had it for several months. The auto-answer mode also works well (in case
you're planning to set up a BBS).
