[comp.sys.mac] recieving mail from hosts

I have several Mac SEs and MacIIs that I am trying to integrate into a network
that will also contain IBM PS/2s and PC/XT/ATs. Additionally, I will probably
have several Sun workstations. The network will have to provide file transfer
and electronic mail to the PCs and Macs. Preferably, the Mac and PC users
will receive their mail right at the machines without having to go to a
terminal session on the bigger machines.

I would like any suggestions or comments about various network solutions.
I am looking at Sun's TOPS system and would appreciate any comments on its
problems, workability, etc. If possible, please reply to my via electronic
mail, if not just post. Any comments on mail and file transferal programs
that run under/on Appletalk and Appleshar would also be welcomed. Another
solution that I am looking at is to use the new AT&T WGS 6386 as the file
server/host. This machine will run UNIX and can be configured to where part
of the machine thinks it is an IBM-AT running DOS. The machine is also has
several XT/AT compatible slots that can take current Appletalk hardware
meant for the IBMs. Any comments. I am not real familiar with the Macs
and I and interested in what you have to say. Thanks in advance!!!
