I just bought a 512K to 1 Meg Macsnap memory expansion kit. I added another 1 Meg to the board, and can't get the mac to run for more than 10 minutes with the new board in the mac. The first error was after 15 minutes of succesful operation. The system hung up in multifinder. I rebooted, and tried using Macsnap's ram disk. I heard a medium loud buzzing, and got the error msg - "Ram disk needs repair". I clicked on "no" and the system rebooted - no noise. I imagine that garbage was written in the memory used for sound. I unsuccesfully tried to reboot several times. Each time dots were printed on the screen with a system error. After not using the mac for 10 minutes, I could get the mac to run for 2 minutes. After not using the mac for several hours, it ran okay for 10 minutes. It sounds like overheating, but I have a fan and don't see how the mac can overheat so fast. I took out the macsnap memory and the mac is happy, but I am not. I am in Israel using a transformer. Could the 50hz cause problems only for the new memory? My mac was also originally a 128K machine. Could there be a problem because the power supply is not big enough. Please send me advice. Has this ever happened to anyone else? Is Macsnap reputable? Here is a list of the errors. > Can't load the finder. ID=10 screen display looks fine, no input from mouse or keyboard > Sorry, system error. ID=10 dots on screen, screen blinking > Sorry, system error. ID=02 dots on screen > Sorry, system error. ID=12 Thanks in advance, Alan Rotman alanr@techunix.bitnet
