My thanks to the many generous folks who answered my last question. I intend to respond in kind once I become as knowledgeable as you all are. I am trying to get a handle on Mac programming by modifying the sample.c program that comes with MPW. Mysterious things happen that do not seem to have explanations in the documentation, however. 1. When I edit sample.c's WIND resource and change the window spec to DocumentProc I get a window with no close or grow boxes. The literature says a DocumentProc is the standard window and should contain those boxes. 2. When I use ZoomDocProc I get a window with a close and a zoom box but no grow box. Again the picture in IM and Mac Revealed shows a window with all three boxes. 3. When I try to edit application sample's WIND resource with ResEdit I get a window that only allows me to change the title and the corner coordinates. Does this mean that if I want to alter other WIND properties I have to Rez the file sample.r? 4. When I use ResEdit on applications that I expect to have WIND resources (like MacWrite and MacKermit - they put up windows after all), WIND is not listed in the resource list. Are these applications using custom windows and therefore do not declare WIND resources? Sorry for all the naive questions. It is quite confusing when things don't behave the way you expect them to.
