On the subject of whether Apple made a deal with Xerox or why Xerox hasn't sued Apple: I was reading "Fire in the Valley" last night (a history of the personal computer, the beginning and ending are pretty good but the middle is pretty boring) and Steve Jobs supposedly told the investment division of Xerox that he would let them invest a million dollars in Apple if they would "open the kimono" at Xerox PARC.
