Hello -- My brother -- now without UseNET access -- is having trouble with his video games. Can anyone help him? You can send replies to me or to him at: j34j@cornella.bitnet (Want a gateway? j34j%cornella.bitnet@forsythe.stanford.edu works fine.) this game that's really driving me up the wall, it's called Dark Castle. I've managed to master the game at the beginner and intermediate levels but the game doesn't end there. Everytime you complete one of said two levels a gargoyle comes flying out of the blue and airlifts you back to the beginning. I've been so, so, close to winning at the advanced level at which point, I assume, I don't know, no one at Cornell seems to be able to get past the beginner level, that you gain entry to one last door and finally complete the road to victory. But, before I sit down and spend another six hours trying to reach that level, I want to know if the game does indeed end b/c, frankly, I'm becoming suspicious that the whole thing might be one cruel joke. -- ## Daniel M. Dark Castle does have an end! The gargoyle can be handled, when you hear it screech, get somewhere you can shoot freely and face the side of the room farther from you, the gargoyle always appears there. Then just shoot in approximatly the right direction, you only get a few shots, so shoot before it appears.

Also a small detail when shots are refered to above we're not talkin' rocks here we're talkin' fireballs so you need to get fireball power first!

I don't believe that there is an end to Dark Castle. You can "win" by knocking the Black Knight off his throne, but the gargoyle ALWAYS picks you up (while you are congratulating yourself) and dumps you in the dungeon. You then start the next higher skill level. Even after you have "won" at the advanced level, you are picked up and dumped in the dungeon once again to continue at the advanced level. The room bonus points start higher, but that's the only difference I can see. You just keep playing the advanced level piling up points. NO END! If anyone can tell me different, I'd be glad to here. Sure. Unfortunately, I seem to be too busy waving my clasped hands over my
head after toppling the Black Knight to do anything else before the gargoyle(s)
(yup, two) arrive to strip me of my powers and dump me into the dungeon. Now,
this is on the beginner's level, since I can't seem to do anything at the
advanced level.
I've wound up in about three different places after toppling the knight, and
the gargoyles come from both sides, regardless of where you stand...

After that, topple the knight. A single gargoyle will then snatch you, strip you of your shield and fireball (but not lives, elixirs, etc.), and drop you in the dungeon to start over at the next higher level.
