I had the opportunity to try an IW LQ for a day. We were considering the purchase of one for our Grad Student network. The output from the printer is beautiful. Initially I was sold on getting one. It didn't take long for disaster to strike. A single sheet of bond paper had a slight tear (maybe 1/8" at the most) along one side. When the print head passed over this it self destructed. I lost 2 pins. At first I thought maybe some fibres were jammed. I looked at the print head but it appeared to be ok. The print head required replacing. The moral of the story is the LQ is a great printer for looks but not for stamina. Check your paper to be sure it is of the highest quality and not damaged in any way. The printer is good for environments where the owner has total control.
