[comp.sys.mac] memory upgrades w/simms?

sdy@ssc-vax.UUCP ("Sukebe") (03/24/88)

I have a 512e (128->512 Dr. Dobbs with socketted memory + the apple 128k rom
upgrade). I will soon have access to 4 256k simms (= 1Meg right?) is there
any memory upgrade that will allow me to take advantage of these simms or will
I just have to settle for something like a populated DOVE board?

Also since I have sockets and the piggybacked address decoder which memory
upgrade boards will fit with the minimum of modification? My friend with a
similar upgrade (non piggybacked address decoder -- his was a plug in board)
had to cut two (4?) sockets off to make his DOVE 512->1Meg board fit.

Oh my goal is 2Meg with the ability to add an SCSI port -- and since I'm now
older and less daring the less I have to hack my board the better -- the
128->512 upgrade was close to my hardware limit and that was 3years ago.

Besides it works fine now and I don't want to break it but I do need the
memory so I can start playing with Hypercard etc.
