[comp.sys.mac] User interface inconsistency with MultiFinder

jmunkki@santra.UUCP (Juri Munkki) (03/24/88)

If you have an application open and you want to open a new file with it,
you can't use the finder to select the file without quitting the application
first. The way I think this should happen is to make the Finder tell the
application that the user would like to open a file. All it would require
would be a new bit in the SIZE resource (Support Easy Open Bit) and a new
modifier to the suspend/resume event.

The next step would be to add a "let me open with the finder" button to the
standard file package. Available files could be hilighted in some way until
the user chooses a file. (I think this idea still needs some work to be
really modeless and intuitive, but there should be a way of doing it _right_.)

P.S. Did anyone get my hyphenation & spelling checker proposal? I haven't had
any replies. It's sort of disappointing that such an important matter
doesn't interest anyone and that when I tell that I'm writing a
game toolbox, I get a large amount of requests...

Maybe Mac users aren't interested in real world problems.
(The above line is only meant to irritate you. Please disregard it.)
