ANY HINTS WOULD BE GREATLY APPREACTED. Spoilers follow To kill the black knight, just aim your fireballs at his FACE. After the sixth or seventh contact, he'll reel backward and slump over his chair. After you make the first contact, he will stop moving his shield, and will not attempt to throw a knife at you. Another spoiler... If you find the guards a nuisance at the higher levels, once you accumulate bombs, you can set one off in their path. They will disappear, just like when you shoot a fireball at them, but they'll STAY gone. Another bug? >All in all, a great game! Hmmmm... I liked Dark Castle. I like BDC less so. I'll post a more complete review later on, but this one seems to lack innovative puzzles. The beginner level is simple. A couple of the scenes are unnecessarily harsh (such as falling back to the dungeon after going through a labyrinth). There seems to be a lack of humor throughout. I don't feel any urge to continue playing the higher levels, unlike with the first version. Does anyone else remember an Apple II game called "Aztec?" It was quite sim- ilar to Dark Castle, except had more menaces, gave your character more cap- abilities (machetes, dynamite, guns), and had a more complex maze. It also didn't lock you into modes (BDC, for example, will let you blow up CERTAIN walls, but nothing else by accident--Aztec would, and would let you get your character in some deep sh*t as a consequence). The theme was more or less "Raiders of the Lost Ark." It seems to me that Dark Castle and BDC have been trying to imitate that feel, unsuccessfully. -- Robert Dorsett {allegra,ihnp4}!ut-emx!walt.cc.utexas.edu!mentat University of Texas mentat@walt.cc.utexas.edu at Austin Before April 1: {allegra, ihnp4}!ut-emx!auscso!mentat After April 1: {allegra, ihnp4}!ut-emx!juniper!mentat
