I have been playing Beyond Dark Castle now for about a week and have come across an interesting bug. I was in the Shield level and had gotten the shield and worked my way back down to the final Orb (in my case, any way). Being somewhat clumsy, my health ran out just after I picked up the Orb. At the time, I had about 30,000 points and 4 men. Well, when I was resurrected (at the beginning of the shield level), I discovered that I had 680,000 points and 99 men! I promptly returned to the Computer Room and saved. Since then I have been basically indistructible since I have so many lives. Actually, I have more than 99 lives, but that is most the screen will display. I've gotten killed 10 or 20 times and the display still indicates 99 men. Everything else in the game works fine. On a different note... How do you beat the Black Knight. I have fought him several times, pummeling him with fire balls, setting bombs, jumping on him, etc, but haven't figured what I can do to beat him. Am I missing something obvious? ANY HINTS WOULD BE GREATLY APPREACTED. All in all, a great game! Paul H. >[BDC bug giving super-Prince]
I encountered the same thing and wrote a note to the president of
Silicon Beach Software on CompuServe (he is a regular user there).
He said there was a similar bug in the original DC that they still
haven't been able to track down. Since it doesn't hurt anything,
just save the game if you want and enjoy. (I guess this bug can
truly be called an "undocumented feature"?)
