We have a Mac Lab here and instead of spending time on holding training classes on using Microsoft Word, I put together a "Word Tutorial", a self teaching guide on how to use Word. It starts with the basics but ends with a section specifically on how to prepare theses. However, I consider it to be incomplete as far as this section is concerned. I mainly cover how to divide a thesis into sections so they can get Roman numerals for their leader pages and Arabic for the rest (that's our requirements here), how to set up the proper margins and position page numbers, and several other other basic needs. I feel that it is adequate for many student's needs, but there's lots more I could talk about, especially now that "Thesis Week" is over and I've seen what students were doing wrong. There really is a lot to cover because theses require so many things. It's a summer project to revamp my tutorial, but unfortunately I have a long list of summer projects... I've posted this to comp.sys.mac as that seems to be the better place for such discussions... -- Peter Steele, Microcomputer Applications Analyst Acadia University, Wolfville, NS, Canada B0P1X0 (902)542-2201x121 UUCP: {uunet|watmath|utai|garfield}dalcs!aucs!Peter BITNET: Peter@Acadia Internet: Peter%Acadia.BITNET@CUNYVM.CUNY.EDU
