[comp.sys.mac] : Mac desktop publishing, etc.

Is there any interest at all in this group in discussing the merits/demerits
of various desktop publishing utilities specifically as they relate to the
Macintosh? In other groups, such as the .desktop group, the discussion
centers either on larger machines or, in .postscript, on a close machine
level or programming approach. Any mail is welcome, as would be replies
on the group or not as to the appropriateness of such discussions.

There have been such discussions before. There would be more such
discussions if only people would post them to .desktop. I'd certainly enjoy
seeing them there, since that's waht I started the group for.....

I'm interested. In particular, I'd like to get some ideas/help about
scanning images. We just bought a DEST PC Scan 2000, a 300 dpi, 256 grey-
level scanner and I'd like some tips on getting the best results from it.
I've only made a few scans, but the machine seems to work well. What I'd
like to know, specifically, is how to adjust the settings on the scanner
to get the best quality "halftone" output. I'll be scanning photos of our
machine and I want to drop them into some documentation we're doing.
How do I get the best results? What are some of the things I should be
aware of? Any help will be gratefully received.

Thanks.
