i mac.RedRyderTipmac.RedRyderTip Subject: Red Ryder 10.3 Lock-Up Problem I was running into big time problems with Red Ryder and could not figure out what I was doing wrong. I will explain my set up, the problem and the FIX. I hope this simple Fix helps someone else avoid the same problem. My Set Up: Mac Plus (standard with 1 Meg) Data Frame 30 Hard Drive Magic Modem 1200 or PK-232 Red Ryder Version 10.3 The Problem: After establishing a connect with a BBS, things seem to be working okay then for some unknown reason the text would start scrolling up the screen and the cursor would turn to the vertical I-Beam and lock-up Red Ryder. I had no control over anything and had to use the reset button on the Mac to escape. I tried just about everything I can think of to stop this lock up. My suspicion was it had something to do when the other party would send a tab. The Fix: I discussed the problem with the SysOp of the Austin Bull Creek BBS and he suggested I check the Tab Stops setting under the RR Local Menu. I checked and it showed no tabs set. I followed his advise and click one tab setting at position five. This simple fix solved the problem. The Tip: Always have at lease one Tab Stop set! This caution should be added to page 11 of the Red Ryder Documentation. Running without a Tab Stop will cause Red to do weird things.
