If memory serves me correctly (and it has been a while since I worked with
a Lisa (Mac XL), the problem may simply be that the Mac + supports double sided
(800K) disks while the Lisa does not. You can init single sided on your Mac +
and then use them on the Lisa.

Quite right. My Lisa at home communicates just fine with all
the Macs at works as long as all the disks are single sided.

(I love my Lisa. It may be old, slow, and not capable of making
beautiful music, but who am I to talk?)

There are two things you can do:
Firstly, I am guessing that your Mac+ disk is double sided. The Lisa
uses single-sided drives. The cheap way out (short term) is to stick
with single sided diskettes.

A better solution is to get Sun Remarketing's HFS upgrade kit. Your
Lisa will be able to support double sided drives, and HFS. It works,
and it's cheap (around $30.00). Highly Recommended.

Oh, look in the back of the latest computer shopper. A company is selling
10 meg profiles for around $200. It's a steal.

A couple of comments about getting your Mac/XL to run Mac+
software: First, it still has the 64K roms so new system
features are not available. Second, the 400K floopy
can be a problem.

But there is a solution, Sun Remarketing which took over Mac/XL
aka Lisa support from Apple now has an 800K replacement floppy,
HFS support and soon Mac+ rom support (via MacWorks+).

They are reasonably priced, they have Apple's blessing, and they
deliver products quickly. Their orderline is (800)821-3221
and customer support is (801)752-7631. I am using all of the
above except for MacWorks+ and I am very happy with it.
