we (meta s/w) just bought a netserial x232 from shiva corp. this device allows the sharing of a modem via the appletalk network. unfortunately, it seems that apple's applelink s/w can not deal with it (it works with red ryder). i changed the 'preferences' in applelink to reflect the fact that the modem could be accessed via the printer port, but applelink failed to connect (gave the 'modem not responding' dialog box that one usually gets when the modem is turned off). is anyone using the netserial with applelink ? i will be happy to give a review (after i have had some time to test) of this product to anyone who so requests ? e-mail responses favored, summary posted if interest merits. thanks ...!bbn!metasoft!spud
