Can someone familiar with the MPW shell and with UNIX shells (say the C shell) summarize the differences for the net? I understand second hand that the MPW shell has quite a different syntax (e.g., using many control characters that are not repesentable in ASCII) but have heard of no advantages of the MPW shell over standard UNIX shells. Since the two have closely related purposes, I would have hoped (expected) that making the MPW shell nearly identical to a UNIX shell would be a big advantage in terms of portability between different computers, and reducing the learning curve. Does the MPW shell have features absent in UNIX Shells?
