gra@mrmarx.UUCP (Gary R. Adams) (05/03/88)
This is my first posting to comp.sys.mac so please be kind :-).
We are running UW v4.2 from our Ultrix 2.2 machines and were interested in
running from our Masscomp RTU 4.0 machines. Since Masscomp does not support
Unix domain sockets, I was planning on adding some conditional compiles
to allow the use of System V message queues instead of the local sockets for
ipc communications.
First, has anyone already blazed the trail through the briers ?
Second, if not, what sort of gotchas lie beneath the rocks? At first glance the
select mechanism in server/uw_main.c looks like I will need to poll the message
queue and/or introduce a semaphore signalling mechanism.
Mascomps also support an implementation of ASTs (gag) that could interrupt the
select.
Third, will the Masscomp pseudo tty implementation be compatible. It appears
that /usr/include/sys/ttold.h contains most of the needed controls.
Anyone interested in the changes if I get it to work ?
