[comp.sys.mac] Responses to "Hard Disk Nightmares"

srwmxpb@windy.dsir.govt.nz (Peter Burgess (Applied Mathematics Division)) (05/11/88)

Thanks to everyone who replyed to my posting "Hard Disk Nightmares".

The general consensus seems to be that Mac hard drives are fairly/extremely
tolerant (anecdotes about macs being shiped around the world in aeroplanes,
dropped onto airport tarmacs and falling off chairs in resturants!)

It also seems that "Shut down" may park at least some hard drives so it is
probably worth doing.

We got our macs back from the repair shop and have had no further trouble
(touch wood), although we haven't dared take move them from the terminal room
yet, we plan to.
