[comp.sys.mac] ShutdownSound

her3@sphinx.uchicago.edu (Benjamin 'Drew' Herman) (05/12/88)

[------------------------------ EAT ME ------------------------]
I just recently aquired a program called
"ShutdownSound INIT" (from Sumex I think)
There is no doc but obviously it's an init that I should place in my
system folder with the file ShutdownSound.... It crashes my system!!!
I Cannot even startup!!
Config:
MAC PLUS (or SE w/hard drive)
No Frills installed exept vaccine by CE Software
	Finder6.0/Multifinder --- (crashes under both)
	LaserwriterIINT

Can Anyone tell me how to get this puppy to work???
My Boss has threatened to restrict my MAC-Activities If the MAC Does Not
Tel him it will be back (within the week!!!!!!)
Thanks
Ben Herman

Well Ben, as the author of the ShutDownSound INIT, let me see if I can
help you out at all.
First of all, the file on SUMEX somehow got posted without the documentation
(which is well written, etc.) but to my knowledge is a working copy.
As long as you are running System 4.0 or above (which I assume that you
are since you are using Finder 6.0) there is NO reason why it should crash
except that maybe it does not get along with Vaccine. Try running without
vaccine and see if that helps. You might also try using a different ShutDown
Sound file. (and you are correct that both files go in the System Folder (on
the same level as the System)).
All the program does at startup time is to place a very small routine into
the System Heap which is then executed at ShutDown time. (That's it!!)
