Ok, I've been quietly collecting things from comp.binaries.mac which I'd like to have on my mac and now I'd like to get them all there. What tools do I need to find in order to do this? My UNIX machine is an SGI IRIS 4D/60T running V.3 with 4.3 networking, my mac is a II. I could get a serial cable and connect the mac to the IRIS, but then what software do I run on each side? I can get an ethernet card for the mac (loaner, not pay the $1000) and maybe get the NCSA FTP to xfer files, would that be easier ?? Please mail responses to me and I'll summarize to the net (if anyone cares about the summary) Thanks in advace, -- "The programmer, like the poet, works only slightly removed from pure thought- stuff. Michael, You do not need any more than a connection between the modem port on the mac and an RS232 on you other system. If you have a communications program on both, just bring up the two programs on each machine. Then use their XMODEM, YMODEM, KERMIT or any other protocol they run to SEND from one to the other. For example, run XMODEM on one machine and place it in "SEND XMODEM" mode, then run XMODEM on the receiving machine and place it in "RECEIVE XMODEM" mode. That will transfer your files from machine A to B. Good luck.. - Ilan Rabinowitz - with ILANET(tm) Ilan@cup.portal.com
