Media Services at Cornell has a large number of Macintosh II systems installed. We recently put the Vaccine INIT from CE Software onto many of the machines to help protect against viral infection (we deal with many state and educational agencies and accept disks from them and other clients, so this seemed a reasonable precaution). Unfortunately, since then, we've been having problems with applications crashing unexpectedly. There is no evidence that there is an infection attempt in progress, but the crashes are not traceable to anything but Vaccine, and even seem to stop occuring when we take Vaccine off the computer. Has anyone else had experiences like this with Vaccine? Could Vaccine be the cause? If so, is there something we can do short of entirely removing the protection that Vaccine affords our very-susceptible computers? -- Mark H.
