[comp.sys.mac] FullWrite & Macro Maker

sysop@stech.UUCP (Jan Harrington) (05/26/88)

Oh, boy - be very careful if you decide to try Macro Maker (in the new
version 6.0 of the system software) with FullMaker. I did - and things are
really screwy!

I opened a document, and began to record a macro. (It was supposed to handle
the "Never Hyphenate" function). The first time I tried the macro, it worked.
Later, it didn't work at all, so I removed it. However, when FullWrite tried
to autosave the document, it hung.

So, I rebooted. Suddenly, I couldn't open a FullWrite document by double-
clicking on it. Next step - copy FullWrite onto the hard disk again.
Same problem: no launch. However, if I move FullWrite to another position on
the desktop (just drag it an inch or so), then documents will launch. Opening
documents once FullWrite is running is no problem.

However - the document that originally exhibited the trouble is trashed - it
won't open - FullWrite just spins the watch cursor and never goes to disk.
Arg!!!!!!!!!!

The continuing launch problem has me baffled (the Mac says something about
the application being busy or missing...). Why in the world should simply
moving the FullWrite icon on the desktop temporarily fix the problem?

Your desktop file is trashed. The desktop file is where the finder stores
all the info about each volume. Window layout, type, location, where the
applications are on disk etc. For a brute force rebuild, hold down command and
option when the finder mounts a disk.
