Two weeks ago I requested information about powerful statistics programs for the mac. I received a large number of requests for information from to be passed along, so I thought I should post a summary. Abacus Concepts, the folks who brought you Statview 512+ are releasing Statview SE+Graphics shortly. This product promises much improved graphics and allows users to write their own statistics procedures. Alternatively, users will be able to purchase add-on programs written by Abacus. The first add-on is Statview GLM which should be good for most ANOVA designs, post-hocs etc.. My concern with such a system is that the cost will become quite high to build up a reasonable package. The other program that was mentioned was Systat, by Systat Corp of Evanston. They also have a program called SYGRAPH available. Both programs are reputed to follow the mac interface. Sadly, there were no super programs lurking in backwoods. I hope this information is useful, or encourges someone to write a really good program for the mac (powerful and follows the mac interface) --Todd Heatherton heath@gpu.utoronto.edu Department of Psychology University of Toronto, Canada M5S 1A1
