[comp.sys.mac] MacCompress & Pyro

lloyd@DUKE.STANFORD.EDU (Lloyd Chambers) (05/27/88)

make a hell of a big fireball together.

It appears that Pyro, at least on a MacPlus and SE, causes MacCompress 2.1
to bomb miserably when attempting to compress a file.

MacCompress2.1 runs perfectly with TMON's heap scramble and trap discipline
turned on, which is a pretty good acid test.

Therefore I am going to assume that this is Pyro's fault,
though I could be wrong.

Could everyone using MacCompress verify that Pyro is indeed the problem.
(including version numbers for MacCompress and Pyro)

BTW if you have MacCompress earlier than v2.1, get the latest version,
earlier versions have a bug.

The problem that I observe is NOT, repeat NOT, with Pyro! !!!!!!!
When I use MacCompress2.1 to COMPRESS a file, the system reboots ALWAYS.
At first, I had Pyro!, Suitcase, and Vaccine loaded, but I removed them
one by on and the problem occurs EVERY TIME I try to compress a file, but
does not occur when decompressing files.

System configuration tested: Plus w/ external 400K drive, System 4.2,
Finder 6.0. I did these tests with my HD off line (I'm not crazy 8^) ).

It seems to me that it is MacCompress2.1 that is at fault, NOT Pyro! !!!

    Sign me skeptical,
