Sigma Edit 1.11 was recently posted to GEnie, and I assume it will quickly spread around the mac community. There is a problem/bug with SAVING files from within Sigma Edit. When editing MPW or other editor's text files with Sigma Edit, and then saving them, via SAVE, Sigma Edit changes the creator, and deletes information that was in the resource fork, which contains info for the original owner of the text file. This is not good practice. Any MPW text file I touched with Sigma Edit would lose all of its formatting information. It's OK to added your own formatting resource (ie EFNT and ETAB), but don't delete the previous resource data IF IT WAS NOT ORIGINALLY CREATED BY YOU. This also means you should never change the CREATOR unless the user does a SAVE AS..., whereby YOU are creating the file. Sigma Edit 1.1 does not have this problem. It was introduced in 1.11 because saving EFNT and ETAB resources was added. :------------------------------------------------------------: : Tom Carstensen Usenet: tomc@mntgfx.MENTOR.COM : : Mentor Graphics Delphi: CARSTENSEN : : GEnie: CARSTENSEN : : : : If you are sick and tired, of all your dreadful : : dimensions, let me stretch your TIME! : : - Time Operator : :------------------------------------------------------------:
