Does anyone out there know what hard disk/controller combination Apple uses in their external 20 and 40 meg SCSI boxes ? I was thinking about just buying the drive and controller and hooking it up myself but I have a feeling that it can't be that easy. I'm looking for something to hook up to a Mac Plus and $750 - $1000 seems a bit steep when I could just buy the parts for about $400 - $500 and do it myself. I'm also wondering if the SCSI driver is included with the Plus or if it is bundled with the hard disk package thus requiring the aspiring do-it-yourselfer to write his own or pirate one from someone else (something I, of course, wouldn't DREAM of doing and would rather not be chastised for). I guess to sum up these ramblings I would appreciate any information anyone could e-mail to me or post regarding building your own SCSI disk system.
