I'm posting this for a friend. We'ver heard that there is a NEW version of Filemaker getting ready to come out called Filemaker +. This new version is supposed to be multiuser and have "over 50 enhancements" over the old version. Can anyone shed some light on what the new program looks like? Any and all info would be appreciated. For the sake of the net, mail and I'll sumarize. Please note the mail path below. Map files may not all out yet to show our NEW route for getting mail. If you are still using the original FileMaker, you're way out of date. FileMaker+ has been shipping for a long time. Nashoba systems (the folks now in charge of FM+) are working on a newer and improved version of FileMaker+, but I haven't seen dates or features. The current version is (i think) 2.1. I know about the + version. That is what he is running now. But the *NEW* soon to be released *MULTIUSER* version with lots of enhancements is what we need info on. That's old news: It has been out for at least the past year, if not more... Maybe FileMaker +++? Plenty of reviews, and plenty of people selling it.

I recently tried setting up a fairly simple database in Filemaker + to keep track of an inventory. I had number fields for each item to track and summary fields to keep track of how many had been used total. But, I wanted to have it tell me how many items were left in the stockroom, so I asked it to subtract the total from an original number. It flat out refused, and I got so irritated that it couldn't do this that I stopped working on Filemaker + entirely for a while. Essentially, I want to sum a field for a number of records then subtract that sum from an original value. Doesn't sound that difficult to me. Is there an easy way to do this in Filemaker or can't it do it? I think I can do the same thing in Excel quite easily but Filemaker is so much nicer to use for data entry and sorting. Any ideas?
