[comp.sys.mac] Assembler for MacII?

murphy@hao.ucar.edu (Graham Murphy) (06/30/88)

Does anyone know of an assembler available for the MacII that uses both
the 68020 and 68881 instruction sets and registers, and for which the
object code could be linked to LightSpeedC ? Can MPW Assembler be
linked to LSC ?

I have some floating point intensive code and LSC 2.1X is not good
enough. The LSC/SANE approach doesn't (apparently) allow direct
manipulation of the floating point registers in the 68881, and
misses out on a major speed improvement associated
with their use. I realize LSC 3.0 includes 68881 support, but
will still lack 68020 extensions (like long word multiplies).
