I have a Mac SE purchased last fall, with two internal floppies and a Mirror 40X Magnet hard disk. Here's the problem: 1. When I press the interrupt button on the left side of the Mac (the one that throws you into the built-in debugger), I get a System Error, ID= 28, which is a stack overflow error. 2. I've been informed that if this happens with 5.5/4.1, it is very likely a hardware (ROM) problem. Sure enough, that's what I was using when it happened: 5.5/4.1. 3. It does NOT happen with 6.0/4.2, however. Works perfectly. 4. Four days ago the hard disk, running 6.0/4.2, crashed horribly, with buzzing, Indian blanket, the works. Wouldn't even reformat. I just sent it back for on-warranty work. The first couple of times it crashed, though, before the noise/blanket started, it gave an (guess...) ID= 28 System Error. I've been advised against hooking up the repaired hard disk until this is resolved. Any and all comments would be most welcome, before I go out and pay for a repairman's new ski boat.......Thanks in advance, >-Ron Morgan--------------{ames, utah-cs, uunet}!ut-sally!ut-emx!osmigo--------< >-Univ. of Texas---{gatech, harvard, pyramid, sequent}!ut-sally!ut-emx!osmigo--< >-Austin, Texas-----------------------osmigo@emx.utexas.edu--------------------< >-Speech Communication-----------------osmigo@ut-emx.UUCP----------------------<
