This has probably been asked before, but I haven't seen it discussed recently, so apologies if I am opening up an old topic. We have an ethernet of Suns and other Unix machines and also an Appletalk (Localtalk) network of Mac's and PC's. These are connected together with TOPS via a Kinetics Fastpath. Question: Can someone point me a reasonable electronic mail program for the Mac which will allow a user to exchange messages with Unix mail environment? What I have (and am not interested in) is a telnet or terminal emulator program which allows the Mac user to speak Unix to a Unix shell environment. What I want is a native Mac program, complete with Mac user interface, use of Mac files and folders, etc., so that my Mac users don't have to learn yet another (unfriendly) system. Thanks, Hugh C. A new software package was announced yesterday on GEnie that will allow you to Implement the full Mac interface to a Sun. It is called Acknowldge and costs gasp...$495.00 but the runtime version may be free. I am a developer of Acknowldge applications and it is a very nice package. I have just completed a full Mac interface for Portal...a Sun system but more user friendly. It took me about a week to do part time. The program I just did lets you click on line on the screen that contains the file names and it automatically downloads it for you after sending all the setup info Portal wants. Anyway if you can afford it Acknowldge is one way to do what you want with little pain other than the price of the software. I am not connected to SuperMac, the maker of Acknowldge in any way. I am just a happy user of this new and powerful product. Bob LaserMan Murrow LaserMan@cup.portal.com
