DOMAIN/IX must be another SystemV derivative. I had the same problem on HP-UX. UW requires all of the tty-handling services provided by BSD (aka SunOS). I gave up because I'm not that familiar with tty-handling (BSD's or anybody's). I did get a tip to look at the code for curses to learn all about tty-handling though. =============================================================================== Steve Witten steve%hpiacla@hplabs.HP.COM Industrial Applications Center {ucbvax, hplabs}!hpda!hpdsla!hpiacla!steve Hewlett-Packard Co. steve@hpiacla "...I'm no fool! Many of those same changes are the ones necessary to compile under HP/UX and other hybrid Sys5/BSD systems. Opinions: MINE, ALL MINE! (greedy evil chuckle) David W. If someone gets uw running under HP-UX, could you please let me know? -Ted

(insert standard disclaimer about not knowing what is going on, here) I have been looking at the UW utility and am very interested in it. I do have a few questions. We are using a Masscomp 5600 that supports UCB 4.2. I am interested in using it to support logins from Macs, Ataris and Amigas. I understand servers are available for these machines. Is there a generic text-based server? Ala overlapping text windows. I would need that for PCs or other systems. Is there a newer version of the software than 3.4? In particular, is there a version that doesn't have Sun dependent code? I can't get the code to compile on the Masscomp as distributed. I don't have a <sys/un.h> file (?). Is there an archive of UW stuff? The version that I have came from a government BBS at Ames and it was pretty old. I don't have FTP access so I would need UUCP info or guest login. I think that the system is an interesting way to get more done using the growing number of Macs, Ataris and Amigas out here. If I could get it running on the PC I sure would be a hero arround here!
