[net.wanted] genealogy and animal breeding software and methodology

inp@ucbopal.CC.Berkeley.ARPA (10/09/84)

I am looking for both software and general methodology for organizing
genealogy data for human ancestry and/or animal breeding research data.
Specifically how to code relationships (parents, sibships, etc),
software to derive ancestry trees, and software to compare trees
for common ancestors. The stickiest wicket seems to be the appearance
of animals at several generation levels. Also cross-referencing
individuals appearing in multiple paper pedigree and registry charts.

Any information is welcome. I will distribute results to interested parties.
I have developed a fairly simple database for the color genes in rabbits.
Thanks, Bob Tidd inp@ucbamber.cc.berkeley
