[comp.sys.mac] System Tools 6.0 won't talk to my hard drive.

System Tools 6.0 won't talk to my Nova 30 connected to my Mac Plus,
because of some new-fangled stuff Apple has hung off the SCSIDispatch
trap call, apparently for use by Apple HD programs. A call to
MicroTech assures me that a new Format program is "on the way."

Well, if you don't want to wait, and think your drive will work OK
without the patch to SCSIDispatch, then try this:

File:		System
Resource:	'PTCH' #117
Replace:

	303C 0015 A647  -->>  303C 0015 4E71
                  ^^^^                  ^^^^

This is a temporary solution, only until your drive manufacturer sends
out a fix, but if you just can't wait to hear "Clink-Klank" on your
Plus, do it! This is an "at your own risk" deal, and is only for
drives which do not work with System Tools 6.0. It negates ALL
patches to SCSIDispatch applied by Apple, and might create
who-knows-what unwanted side-effects, and might even violate your
Apple System Software license agreement. I have been using such a
modified System File all day with no ill effect.
