I was trying to transfer a Binary file ( a MacPaint image file ). I wanted to use a PD program "paintraster" and convert a MacPaint file to a Sun Raster file. Very often I found the raster images scrambled. There was nothing wrong with the paintraster program. So, I decided to look into the transfered to see if anything strange happening in the transfer process. And, I found a particular byte ( byte value in hexadecimal = 0D ) was creating the problem: somehow, this byte was not there in the file transfered to Sun!?!? Can someone tell me what is happening? I tried the Binary-Data mode on MacKermit, Binary and and MacBinary on Versaterm, and the same thing was happening with all of them. I thing in ASCII, 0D is the Carriage Return character. I cannot understand what is happening. Baskaran Subramaniam
