[This went out yesterday without the body of the message... sorry 'bout that.] I've been moderating comp.binaries.mac and comp.sources.mac since the days when they were created in the mod.mac hierarchy. It's been fun, but it's time to move on. My wife and I are expecting our first child at the end of August, and I expect my time will be spent in vastly different ways. Also, I'd like to spend more time programming the Mac. My first commercial program in nearly finished, which I hope to announce here in the near future. So, if you'd like to take over as moderator of comp.{binaries,sources}.mac, drop me a line. Requirements are that you have a Mac (obviously) to check out the software that's posted, and you have access to a UseNet node where posting around 2 megabytes of articles a month wouldn't pose a problem for the local administrator(s). Additionally, it would be helpful if the UseNet node were "well-connected" to facilitate getting your postings out on the net as quickly and reliably as possible. -- Roger L. Long dhw68k!bytebug

Hopefully everyone received <9806@dhw68k.cts.com> which I posted after I noticed that my request for a new comp.{binaries,sources}.mac moderator went out without the body of the message. To respond to several queries about whether my decision to step down was a result of recently being flamed, let me reassure everyone that I've been flamed before, and the timing here is merely coincidence. As I stated in <9806@dhw68k.cts.com>, the main reason for moving on is time; I'd like to be able to spend more time doing other things, like writing Mac programs, and my wife and I are expecting a baby at the end of August, which I'm told will leave me little time for anything else. There's also a bit of burn-out, since I've been doing this since the moderated groups were first formed. To those who recently have sent notes thanking me for the work I've done: thank you. -- Roger L. Long dhw68k!bytebug
