The following message I'm posting for a friend of mine, who has no direct access to USENET. ================== Hello Usenet, I am desperately looking for a business graphics application(s) which should have the following features: 1) Perform easy spreadsheet operations 2) Draw easy business charts in *full* *colour* 3) Handle full colour images 4) Print these graphs and images on some colour-printer and slide-maker 4) *Automatically update* the charts when the figures change (New figures will be pasted into the calculation sheet) Please help! At the moment this is done on a MS/DOS machine running Mirage :-( *Any* information welcome. Gary Gary T. (quotes from article <514@ethz.UUCP> lengge@bernina.UUCP (Thomas Lenggenhager)) I just received my upgrade to Excel 1.5. Although Excel is hardly a simple and low-cost application, the new version does all the things your friend asked for. Excel is also the most computationally- powerful spreadsheet I'm aware of--with V1.5 it can now do matrix operations which were a weakness earlier. I'm a SW engineer and mathemagician by trade, not a business type, but I find it nearly indispensable >1) Perform easy spreadsheet operations (and hard ones too :-) >2) Draw easy business charts in *full* *colour* I haven't really played with color--I have and SE but do use a color ribbon in my IW2. Even when the screen is monochrome, you can print in the IW2's colors. >3) Handle full colour images I'm not sure what you mean here...sounds more like a word processor feature than a spreadsheet feature. If you're running on a Mac II you can always cut & paste the color-quickdraw chart into a WP document, of course, along with whatever other pictures you've got. >4) Print these graphs and images on some colour-printer and slide-maker If you can do it on an IW2, you should be able to do it on anything that has a standard Mac driver. >4) *Automatically update* the charts when the figures change (New > figures will be pasted into the calculation sheet) Answer 1: within Excel, this is pretty much automatic. Answer 2: if you use Word 3 as your WP and run Excel and Word simultaneously under Multifinder they offer some kind of feature to do this. I've never looked into the details. > Gary T.
