Here's a good one: I keep reading references to 'X-windows'. So that I might better understand what is being discussed and possibly even make some intelligent contributions, WHAT THE HELL IS 'X-WINDOWS'? X Windows is a windowing system that is starting to become a standard. It is similar in function to parts of the Mac toolbox, especially QuickDraw & Window Manager. X provides routines to open windows and draw graphics and text. One thing it does not do is provide menus and window movement/resize features. These are done by a separate "Window Manager (not mac!). This is a very simplistic description. If anyone would like to expand on it, please be my guest! Joe Peterson Schlumberger Billerica, Ma uucp : ...mit-eddie!applicon!peterson
