At the time HFS became standard, the word was that the only way to get
an 800K disk with MFS was to reboot with System 2.? and Finder 4.1g.
Then the 800K drives would write the whole disk, but in flat MFS
format. This was valid procedure for Pluses. I have no idea whether
the 256K ROMs in the SE or those in the II would do it, nor whether
any non-Apple 800K drives would work.
