I was wondering if anyone has any figures comparing the file copying speed of System Tools 6.0 vs. previous releases. (Copying from disk to disk in finder, to be specific.) Subjectively you'd have to be dead not to notice the significant speedup, but I'd like to see some hard numbers if any are out there. While I'm on that subject, anyone know if it is possible to port the new copying routines to an older System/Finder w/o having to recompile anything, ie., by copying resources? Two comments on the minimum plus script that comes w/ 6.0: it does not copy the KeyLayout doc over. As this would appear therefore to be superflourous on a plus, what exactly is it for? Is it specifically for the new type of keyboards on the MacSE, MacII (& IIgs, for that matter)? (I never can seem to remember what they--or the ones on the older Macs-- are called.) Also, it does appear the Word 3.02 will fit on a disk w/ a min plus script. I hope 4.0 will too. Also, I _a_m still interested in what can be removed from System 4.2 if it will only be run on a plus. -JimC -- batcomputer!cloos@cornell.UUCP |James H.
