Hi! I am relatively new to the USENET newsgroups, so I'm not sure if this has been asked before. When I install a startup screen on the Mac II in the system folder (system 4.2, finder 6.0, 1Mb RAM) which was extracted from a Pixelpaint file, the system memory usage from "About finder...." shows an increase from ~150K to an additional amount equal to the size of the startup screen. Removing the file from the sys folder will free up the memory on the next reboot (naturally) Questions: 1)Why is the memory still marked as used even when the startup screen is no longer displayed after startup? 2) is there a way to have a startupscreen (of ~120K) and not incur the memory cost? This is especially important since Pixelpaint won't run with anything less than ~800K (?). Thanks for your help! -- =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= = twan@umbio.MIAMI.EDU <<internet>> <- should reach?? = = p758z49z@miavax.miami.edu <- other acct. = = Disclaimer: I don't claim to represent anyone except myself :-) =
