For those who care, I just heard from my editor at Macintosh Horizons magazine. While he was at MacExpo, the Board of Directors of the Apple Co-op decided to cut funding for the magazine. The upcoming issue of Macintosh Horizons will be the last. What we were trying to do with Macintosh Horizons (of which I happen to be a contributing editor) was put together an alternative magazine -- something that was different than the hyper-gloss business and shallow discussions that seem to populate the other Mac magazines to some degree or another. We tried to look at things that others miss (Mac Horizons was the only magazine to regularly do book reviews, for instance) and try to avoid the fluff and hype. I thought we did a good job. Not good enough for the magazine market these days. The mac world's lose another voice. Not the biggest, not the best, but a voice nevertheless.
