Tired and unhappy... I am using one regular swedish System 4.3 (System update 5.0). I am trying to use a software called "Dial-In Access" that changes the AppleTalk into low-speed async-serial-stuff. I fail. But that is not the point. The trouble is "the changing System." I have everyting working fine on my own Macintosh SE. My _original, yet used_ System works swell with Dial-In Access (just DIA). If I use this System on a new Mac SE, DIA works also. But if I install a new System onto the new Mac SE, as I once did on my own, plus add DIA, it don't work. WHY is there a diffrence? A friend has a harddisk at home with a Mac SE. DIA works. He takes THE SAME HARDDISK to a customer. Also a Mac SE. DIA don't work any more. And the System gets corrupted. I have tried to locate all kinds of possible error-sources (PRAM, bad diskettes, versions, well, a lot) and failed. I do not ask for specific assistance. I just want to say: I hate that my System changes all the time. ------------------------------------------- If I install a new System, select Chooser, set "AppleTalk off", and then "AppleTalk on" - my System grows. If I enter an AppleTalk-name for the first time - my System grows. If I add a cdev (things under Control Panel) - my System grows. If I change Printer Driver - my System changes. If I add Desk Accessories, Fonts - I have to change the System. (Yet I use SuitCase, so I at least do not suffer by that problem too much.) The list seems endless... (... ever seen file "COMMAND.COM" changed in MS-DOS? ;-) Please Apple: Make it possible to use the System LOCKED, and non-changing. Peter Freund freund@nada.kth.se
