Does anyone know how to make a Postscript file on the Mac that's useable when transferred to UNIX or VMS? We have Postscript printers on the big guys, but they refuse to print files produced by our Macs. They complain about ``md'' as an undefined command and flush the job. The prologue in a file generated by MacWrite or MacDraw is empty (i.e., ``%%EndProlog'' immediately follows ``%%EndComments''). My guess is that the chooser can't really set up for a LaserWriter because we don't have an Appletalk network, so no LaserWriter identifies itself to the SE. (The chooser presents an empty menu of LaserWriters to select from.) Having sneaked a peak at the ASCII strings contained in the Laserwriter program in the System Folder (using ``od -s6'' on a binary copy in UNIX land), it looks like the program would set things right if a LaserWriter could be chosen. Eternal gratitude and great praise to the wizard who knows how to get around this nasty little gotcha. Email would be appreciated because I'll be away for a week, because our notes/news connection is flaky and because I don't regularly read this group, so the odds are that if you post a response, I'll miss it. -- Fred Calm uucp: calm@applicon.com snail: Schlumberger CAD/CAM, 829 Middlesex Tpke, Billerica, MA 01821

I'm no expert, but my understanding is that the chooser looks for resources. Why don't you just try adding the Laserwrite resource in your system folder?
