I was an original MAC 128K owner who finally got around to upgrading to a 512 motherboard through my University computer support service. I kept on meaning to upgrade to the 128 ROM with 800K drive (approx. $231 through the University program) but was lulled into complacency by our rep who assured me that this upgrade kit would be available. Much to my chagrin, the day I walked in to finally upgrade I learned the kit had been discontinued. It was upgrade to a MAC+ or nothing. Needless to say, I was not happy to hear this news. Apparently Apple, in its infinite wisdom had decided that everyone had to upgrade to 1 meg or it was just too bad. Forget the fact that it was 3x more money. I already have a MAC+, but my wife uses our 512. I would like her to have the ROM and drive upgrade for speed and storage reasons, but she really doesn't need1 meg. Is there anyway to accomplish this at a reasonable price? Would it havereally been so difficult for Apple to keep thinking about their early MAC users? -- Michael Hodgkins UUCP: ...!pacbell!hippo!michael
