[comp.sys.mac] Mac SCSI drive on a Sun

carlton@ji.Berkeley.EDU (Mike Carlton) (09/02/88)

Has anyone tried to connect a standard Mac SCSI drive to a Sun 3/60?
We are getting a 3/60 in our office and want a local disk to attach
to it. The Sun "shoebox" is rather expensive for 70MB (we don't really
need the tape cartridge).

Since the prices on the Mac drives are so much better, I would like to
know if it is feasible to hook one up to the Sun. If you've done this,
could you tell me what was involved?

thanks for your help,
mike (carlton@ji.berkeley.edu or ...!ucbvax!ji!carlton)

It's certainly feasible from a hardware standpoint. Unless you select
your drive and controller very carefully, you might have to provide your
own device driver, or write your own formatting routines.
