[comp.sys.mac] Looking for Tek terminal emulator

erc@pai.UUCP (Eric Johnson) (09/09/88)

I need to connect up to a DEC VAX computer and run software on
the VAX that needs a Tek 4010-style terminal. In addition, most
anything connected to a VAX needs vt100 emulation as well for
text modes. Thus, I'm looking for a Mac terminal emulation package with:
	* Tek 4010 emulation
	* vt100 emulation
	* Kermit file transfers
	* Store phone numbers and dial a Hayes-style modem (not necessary)

I would prefer a shareware or freeware package, but if necessary, I'll
buy a commercial package. Any pointers to packages would be appreciated.

Thanks,
-Eric

				[stores 8 names/numbers, auto redial]

Versaterm ($99 list, I think I paid about $75 from 1-800-BUY-A-MAC a year
ago) or Versaterm-Pro ($295 list) are commercial products that do all this
and much more. -Pro also has 4105 emulation (in color on a II), allows
local zoom/pan and lets you save the graphic as a pic file (you can edit it
later with MacDraw). These have been discussed on this newsgroup not long
ago, so I'll not list any more details unless requested.

Several shareware/PD VT-100 emulators exist, but I don't know of any
Tektronix emulators. There were at least two other commercial emulators that
did Tektronix emulation, but their names escape me. One was a nice VT-240
emulator from a company whose logo is a pine tree, and I think the other had
"mesa" in their name.

Standard disclaimer applies.
